Ooredoo Maldives has made an announcement on the successful completion of the Ooredoo Nation Atoll eSports League 2025 which was the first nationwide eSports tournament organized by Ooredoo in Malaysia which took place online. Gamers representing 16 atolls, 35 islands and 49 teams competed against each other in the competition with a total of 294 players participating with the advanced digital network provided by Ooredoo.
The tournament, which ran between August 20 and September 8, 2025, demonstrated the ability of digital connectivity to bring people together in the Maldives. Closing ceremony was held on October 2 at Ooredoo Maldives Headquarters in Malé during which the minister of Cities Hon. Adam Shareef Umar was invited as the Chief Guest and the members of the island councils divided in the whole country attended the ceremony.
Sh. The champions were Komandoo SDMZ NG where they won MVR 25,000 with Gn. Fvml City AKZ and Fonadhoo DMZ in second and third position respectively.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Hussain Niyaz, Chief Commercial Officer stated,
“The Ooredoo Nation Atoll eSports League is a milestone in our journey to empower the Maldivian gaming community. For the first time, players from 16 atolls were able to participate in the first ever nationwide tournament, that also fully online—demonstrating how Ooredoo’s superior network creates opportunities for youth to connect, compete, and showcase their talents.”
