Dhiraagu Partners with MNU for E-Waste Hackathon 2025

Dhiraagu has partnered with the Maldives National University (MNU) to host the E-Waste Hackathon 2025, a youth-driven initiative tackling the country’s growing electronic waste problem. The event will take place from 28 September to 7 October at MNU.

Open to high school, college, and university students, the hackathon encourages participants to develop practical and scalable solutions for e-waste management. Electronic waste includes discarded devices such as phones, computers, batteries, and refrigerators, which have become a major environmental challenge.

Under the theme “Innovating for a Circular Economy: Tackling the E-Waste Crisis”, the programme will feature expert workshops, mentorship, and site visits to waste facilities. Teams will work on ideas such as upcycling, recycling optimisation, and sustainable disposal methods before presenting their solutions to a judging panel.

By fostering innovation and environmental awareness, the E-Waste Hackathon aims to empower Maldivian youth to lead the way in building a more sustainable future.
