The flag carrier of the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways, to no surprise is continuing from where they left off in 2020 in terms of expanding their global network. In this regard, they have announced their decision to head back to the city, Atlanta. This is the 12th gateway of the airline in the U.S., which is two more than what was operated pre-pandemic. Accordingly, they will be operating four-weekly flights to Atlanta; set to commence on 1st June. Qatar Airways dropped flights to Atlanta’s Hartsfield–Jackson International Airport last year amid the wider travel downturn.
In addition to this, the airline will increase significantly increase frequencies adding an additional 13 weekly flights to operate a total of 83 weekly flights across its 12 gateways in the U.S., offering passengers more flexible and reliable travel options. In line with the airline’s steady rebuild of its U.S. network, Qatar Airways plans to resume services and increase frequencies to several destinations:
· Atlanta (four weekly flights starting 1 June)
· Chicago (increasing to 10 weekly flights from 4 March)
· Dallas-Fort Worth (increasing to 10 weekly flights from 2 March)
· Houston (increasing to daily flights from 14 March)
· Miami (increasing to three weekly flights from 3 July)
· San Francisco (ramping up to daily flights by 2 July)
· Seattle (four weekly flights starting 29 January and ramping up to daily flights by 1 July)
Qatar Airways reassures their interest to rebuild its global network and cement its position as the leading Middle East airline connecting the United States with Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Presently, the airline flies to 120 destinations worldwide whilst they have plans to increase the number to over 130 by the end of March 2021.
