Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed Appointed Chief Justice of Maldives

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed as the new Chief Justice of the Maldives. The appointment was made during a special ceremony at the President’s Office, where the President handed over the official letter of appointment.
The oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Justice Uz Abdulla Hameed.
After taking the oath, Uz Abdul Ghanee signed the official declaration to assume his new role.

His appointment was made under Article 147 of the Constitution of the Maldives.
Chief Justice Uz Abdul Ghanee holds an LLB (Hons.) in Law and Islamic Jurisprudence from Al-Azhar University. He also earned a Master’s degree in Islamic Judicial Sciences and Shariah Policy, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching from the Islamic University of Maldives. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Islamic Judicial Sciences and Legislative Policy.

Before this appointment, he served as President of the Tax Appeal Tribunal. His career includes service as a judge in the Supreme Court, Civil Court, and as Chief Judge of the High Court. He has also served on the Judicial Service Commission and taught law at various local institutions.
