Housing Development Corporation is moving forward with plans to develop Farukolhufushi as a public park under the newly revised Masterplan for Hulhumale. The project is a response to the rising population in Hulhumale Phase II and the growing demand for recreational and green spaces.
Farukolhufushi, which previously operated as a resort, was connected to Hulhumale Phase II in 2016. It will now be transformed into Farukolhufushi Park, designed to support community wellness, leisure and social interaction.
The park will include a wide range of facilities such as an outdoor gym, football pitch, and other sports areas. There will also be barbecue zones, food vendors and spaces meant for community activities, making the park a central hub for residents.
HDC views this development as a key part of its long-term vision for a livable and inclusive Hulhumale. With 4,000 new housing units nearing completion, the population in Phase II is expected to rise further, making access to public spaces more important than ever.
Farukolhufushi Park is expected to be a landmark project within the Masterplan, supporting a healthier and more connected community.
