The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has announced 35 scholarship opportunities in Islamic finance, aimed at developing local expertise and strengthening the industry in the country.
The scholarships are part of the MMA Tamweel Islamic Finance Initiative, a long-term strategy to grow the Maldives into a regional centre for Islamic finance. The programme focuses on improving financial literacy, awareness, and professional training in the sector.
According to MMA, the scholarships are available through two top Malaysian institutions: INCEIF University and Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS).

Only Maldivian citizens are eligible. Each applicant can apply for one full-time programme. MMA stated that selection will be based on both merit and financial need. Applications will also be assessed on social background and overall eligibility.
