NSPA Spends MVR 7.4M for In-Patient Care in June

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has announced that it spent MVR 7.4 million in June to support in-patient treatments at two of the Maldives' main private hospitals—ADK Hospital and Tree Top Hospital.

This assistance goes beyond what is covered by Aasandha, aiming to help patients with urgent or extended medical needs. According to NSPA, 190 patients received aid at ADK Hospital last month, totaling MVR 3.2 million in support.

Cardiac patients received the highest financial assistance at ADK, with MVR 994,871 allocated to 14 cases. Orthopaedic and childbirth-related admissions were the most frequent, with 27 cases each, followed by 18 gastrointestinal and 16 respiratory cases.

At Tree Top Hospital, NSPA provided MVR 4.1 million in aid to in-patients. The highest funding was for orthopaedic care—MVR 1.2 million across 32 cases. The most common reason for admission, however, was childbirth, with 64 cases recorded. Orthopaedic conditions followed closely with 53 cases, and gastrointestinal illnesses accounted for 40.

NSPA’s support in June reflects the agency’s ongoing role in helping those with medical expenses exceeding Aasandha limits. Meanwhile, Aasandha expenses from January to May have already reached MVR 950 million, with a total annual budget set at MVR 1.8 billion.
