Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced a major increase in U.S. dollar support for international and telegraphic transfers (TT), now offering 30% support to businesses, including SMEs.
Previously, businesses received only 5–10% in support. This move is aimed at reducing black market currency exchanges by easing access to official dollar channels.
BML has already set allocated dollar amounts for major businesses’ TT transactions. The service remains accessible via BML Internet Banking and is widely used by foreign companies.
Additionally, BML will increase debit card limits from USD 250 to USD 500 starting 1st July 2025.
