Maldives and Singapore have signed three Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance cooperation in key areas during President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s official State visit.
President Muizzu, joined by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and senior officials, is in Singapore on the invitation of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Following a meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, MOUs were signed in the fields of capacity building, environmental protection, and higher education.
The MOU on capacity building was signed by Maldivian Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel and Singapore Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.
Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim signed the environmental protection MOU with Singapore’s Minister of Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu.
For higher education, education policy, and technical fields, Minister Dr Ali Haidar signed the agreement with Goh Mong Song, CEO of Singapore’s IT Education Service.
The signing ceremony took place at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
