Clique College Takes A Step Towards Promoting Cycling Through Partnership With Bike Maldives

Unbeknownst to many, mental and physical health go hand-in-hand. As a result, poor mental health can also lead to poor physical health, and vice-versa. For a student to meet their true learning potential, both their mental and physical health must be at the best state. Studies show that cycling can uplift and promote mental and physical development of youth leading to better education results. Regular cycling can help reduce stress, improve creative thinking and has a relaxing effect on the brain; stabilizing both mental and physical function. Moreover, regular cycling strengthens the immune system, promotes weight loss, builds muscle, promotes better lung health, reduces the risks of heart disease and cancer in addition to improving sleep.

As all these can enable students to perform better in their studies, therefore, Clique College wishes to encourage students to take on cycling as a hobby and promote cycling practice. For this purpose, they have partnered up with Bike Maldives and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 19th January 2021. Bike Maldives is the official cycling association of Maldives recognized by the Union Cycling International (UCII) whose mission is to promote a healthy lifestyle while protecting the island nation’s fragile environment. This is the first-time Bike Maldives is partnering up with a higher education institute.

Under the MoU, Clique College & Bike Maldives will team up to conduct local and international events for students of the college and also provide training them. In addition to this, opportunities will be provided for them to get hold of or for them to get hold of or buy bikes and will be assisted to transfer the bikes to event locations via Bike Maldives networks.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Academic Dean of Clique College, Ms. Dhunya Hameed, notes that this partnership makes up another reason why students should choose Clique College in their higher education ventures.

Also speaking at the ceremony, Secretary-General of Bike Maldives, Ms. Asma Hassan, states that “Cycling is for everyone. It is an activity that the whole family can do together. It creates balance in life, produces zero pollution, heals your heart, helps make new friends, motivates others, and creates competitive sports opportunities for cycling enthusiasts. Cycling makes you a happier, healthier person as you get the kind of fix that boosts the good things in life. All you have to do is just hop on a bike and you are good to go!”
