Dhiraagu Powers Digital Equality Across the Maldives on WTISD 2025

As the world observes World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) 2025, Dhiraagu is spotlighting its commitment to digital equality—especially for women and girls across the Maldives.
This year’s WTISD theme focuses on advancing gender equality in the digital space. With 2.6 billion people still offline globally—most of them women—the call for inclusive access has never been more urgent. Dhiraagu, the Maldives’ leading digital service provider, has taken key steps to help close this gap.

One of its most notable achievements is delivering 100% fibre broadband coverage across all inhabited islands. This milestone ensures reliable, high-speed internet access for all communities, regardless of location—creating more opportunities for women and girls to learn, work, and grow in a connected world.

Dhiraagu’s mobile network also covers the entire nation, enabling access to essential services such as e-learning, telemedicine, and digital finance—tools that support independence and help bridge opportunity gaps.
In 2024, Dhiraagu was recognised as the Fastest 5G Network in the Maldives by Ookla. Its 5G rollout is unlocking possibilities in areas like remote work, online education, and women-led business ventures, driving meaningful digital transformation.

Looking ahead, Dhiraagu is investing in global connectivity through its involvement in the SEA-ME-WE 6 submarine cable system. This next-generation infrastructure is set to boost internet resilience and strengthen the Maldives’ position as a digitally inclusive economy.
As WTISD 2025 coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action, Dhiraagu reaffirms its commitment to building a smarter, more inclusive Digital Raajje—where no one is left behind.
