President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, in his National Children’s Day address, emphasized the critical need to protect the children of the Maldives from harmful influences, describing their upbringing as essential for the country’s prosperous future. He referred to children as the "delight of our eyes" and "comfort of our souls," highlighting their pivotal role in the nation’s progress.
During his speech, President Muizzu called for a unified national effort to shield children from negativity. He reminded the nation that children represent one-fourth of the Maldivian population and will eventually bear the responsibility of guiding the country forward. Developing them into a capable generation that upholds Maldivian sovereignty, cultural identity, and dignity, he stated, is a collective responsibility.
Drawing on the teachings of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), the president emphasized that every child is born pure and that it is the duty of guardians to nurture and guide their beliefs and character. He noted that children, in their innocence, look to adults as role models and are deeply influenced by the examples set around them.
The president further called for the creation of a society founded on mutual respect and good manners, both in private homes and public spaces. He stressed the importance of an education system that equips children with the necessary skills for the modern world, enabling them to become patriotic Maldivian Muslim youth capable of leading the nation.
Addressing the children directly, President Muizzu encouraged them to value their formative years and pursue knowledge, personal growth, and respect for their heritage. He urged them to cherish their religious duties, their love for the country, and to maintain healthy habits. He also reminded them not to waste time and to uphold respect and obedience.
In closing, President Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to the future of the nation, stating that the success and growth of Maldivian children are directly linked to the country’s future.
