MTCC Races to Finish 99% of Projects by 2028

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is stepping up its pace to complete 99 percent of its projects by the end of 2028. This move is part of a national effort to accelerate infrastructure development under the guidance of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

MTCC, a state-owned company, is currently handling over 340 projects across the country. According to CEO and Managing Director Ahmed Saudee, formerly a Deputy Commissioner of Police, the company is now undergoing internal restructuring to increase efficiency and meet tighter deadlines.

One major project seeing faster progress is the land reclamation work in Gulhi, Kaafu Atoll. Initially set for 2026, it is now expected to be completed by September this year. Saudee highlighted this as a key success in MTCC's plan to speed up national development.
With continuous work being carried out across its sites, MTCC expects nearly all current projects to be finished by late 2028. This includes projects in essential areas such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure that had been delayed in the past.

In response to recent government directives, MTCC has also mobilised teams to 11 islands to launch 38 new projects. Despite the large workload, the company says it remains focused on delivering results that benefit communities across the Maldives.
