Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run 2025 Makes History Beyond the Capital

The Dhiraagu Fuvahmulah Run 2025 has concluded with outstanding success, marking a historic moment for Maldives’ running scene. Held in Fuvahmulah City, this was the first time the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) — the country’s biggest race — was hosted outside the capital.

A total of 1,112 participants, including international runners, gathered for the event. Organised by the Fuvahmulah City Council, the Fuvahmulah Women’s Development Committee, and the Athletics Association, the race aimed to showcase Fuvahmulah’s unique landscape as an ideal running destination and to support the growth of local athletic talent.
Runners competed in three main categories: 5 km, 10 km, and the half marathon. Winners were announced across various divisions, with standout performances from athletes such as Shifaz Mohamed and Aishath Jinaany Ibrahim in the half marathon, and Nizmeena Ahmed who topped both the women’s 10 km and 5 km categories.

Recognised internationally, the Dhiraagu Road Race is the only race in the Maldives listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). It features a World Athletics Certified Route and is included in the global World Running Calendar — solidifying its status as a premier event in the region.
