The Maldives has officially opened its embassy in Türkiye, marking a significant step in strengthening ties between the two nations.
Located in Ankara, the embassy was inaugurated yesterday by Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel, Türkiye’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, and Maldives Ambassador to Türkiye, Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Abdul Raheem Abdul Latheef.
Foreign Minister Khaleel described the opening as a historic move that will deepen diplomatic, economic, and cultural connections. He emphasized the importance of the embassy for Maldivians in Türkiye, highlighting its role in providing easier access to consular services and fostering people-to-people relations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the embassy will support both bilateral and multilateral efforts while advancing Maldives' foreign policy goals.
Minister Ersoy noted recent improvements in cooperation between the two countries, especially in education, tourism, culture, and economy.
