Dhiraagu has held the graduation ceremony for the 2024 batch of its Apprenticeship Programme, recognizing 19 young Maldivians who successfully completed the training. The event also marked the official start for 20 new apprentices joining the 16th intake of the programme.
The ceremony was held with Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu as the Chief Guest, alongside senior figures from Dhiraagu, board members, and heads of educational institutions.
The Dhiraagu Apprenticeship Programme, launched in 2009, is a key part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts. As the first corporate-led apprenticeship programme in the Maldives, it focuses on preparing youth with the practical skills and experience needed for the job market. To date, over 288 young people have taken part in the initiative.
This year’s new apprentices will receive structured training, soft skills development, and hands-on experience in Dhiraagu’s core business areas, both in Malé and at regional operations centers throughout the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu praised the programme's role in youth development, calling it a valuable opportunity for young people to prepare for employment. He encouraged continued participation and support for such initiatives.
Dhiraagu CEO and Managing Director Ismail Rasheed congratulated the graduating class and welcomed the new intake. He reaffirmed the company’s dedication to investing in young talent, noting that many former apprentices now hold key roles within Dhiraagu and other industries in the Maldives.
Through this programme, Dhiraagu aims to equip youth with the tools to build meaningful careers, guided by experienced professionals and real-world training opportunities.
