Ooredoo Maldives has marked its 20th anniversary with a strong message — the journey is just beginning. As a leader in digital innovation, the company is rolling out a series of major announcements to thank customers and push forward its vision of a more connected, smarter Maldives.
From being the first to introduce 3G, 4G, and now 5G AirFibre broadband in the country, to connecting the entire nation via a 4G+ network and submarine cable, Ooredoo’s contributions to the telecom industry are unmatched. The company has built top-tier infrastructure including its Tier 3 Data Center in Hulhumalé and a regional center in Kulhudhuffushi.
“Live Unlimited” is more than a campaign line. It’s a promise that wherever customers are in the Maldives, they can stay connected without limits — to family, entertainment, education, and more. Ooredoo says this philosophy will continue to guide its innovation.
To celebrate 20 years of trust, the company is offering something special: an Umrah trip for one customer every 20 days, totaling 19 Umrah trips. In addition, one lucky customer will win a grand Hajj trip for two through a special lucky draw.
In a first for the Maldives, Ooredoo has launched Apple Watch Cellular service powered by eSIM — available for Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra. The Maldives becomes the third country within the Ooredoo Group to offer this service.
Mobile customers will enjoy six months free access, after which the service will be available at MVR 199 per month. The feature allows users to stay connected directly through their watch — no phone needed nearby.
Ooredoo is also expanding into smart home technology. Customers who sign up for SuperNet broadband packages can now receive a smart doorbell and security camera bundle. This is part of the company’s Smart(er) Home initiative, aimed at making modern living more secure and convenient. Ooredoo says more smart devices will be introduced in the future.
As in previous years, Ooredoo’s Fun Run will return — this time in two locations. The Hulhumalé event is scheduled for December, while the atoll edition will be held in Addu City on 27th June 2025.
The popular Masrace fishing competition is back too, happening in three locations across the Maldives: Male' Atoll, and both the northern and southern regions. With rising demand, Ooredoo is now inviting island councils to express interest in hosting Masrace in their communities.
Ooredoo continues to invest in local talent and industries. This year, they’ve appointed a new brand ambassador: Rashid Adam, better known by his social media handle The Life of a Fisherman. Rashid, a pole and line fisherman from Fares-Maathoda, has captured wide audiences with his content showcasing Maldivian fishing life.
This appointment also reinforces Ooredoo’s commitment to the fisheries sector — an essential part of Maldivian culture and economy.
In addition to these announcements, Ooredoo teased a special upcoming project aimed at showcasing the beauty of the Maldives to an international audience. Details are yet to be shared.
Reflecting on 20 years of service, Ooredoo credited its success to the dedication of its team and the trust of its customers. With more surprises expected throughout the year, the company reaffirmed its commitment to building a “Digital Maldives” where everyone can truly Live Unlimited.
