Villa College has announced the introduction of six new academic programmes, aimed at fulfilling the growing demand for skilled professionals in the Maldives. The courses, unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday, include a mix of degrees and certificates, tailored to the fields of technology, healthcare, psychology, and culinary arts.
Among the most notable additions is the Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, the first of its kind in the country. This three-year programme, at MNQF Level 7, equips students with the skills needed for careers in software development, covering areas such as mobile app development, software creation, and web design. It is available through both face-to-face and e-learning options.
The Bachelor of Science in Networking, also a three-year Level 7 programme, offers practical experience with tools like Cisco Packet Tracer, while preparing students for internationally recognised CCNA certification exams. Another important addition is the Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security, which focuses on the growing need for digital security. This course combines technical training with collaboration from global computing bodies such as ACM and IEEE.
Villa College is also offering the first Master’s degree in Organizational Psychology in the Maldives. This one-year MNQF Level 9 programme is designed for professionals in human resources and management, helping them improve workplace performance using applied psychology principles.
For those interested in healthcare and culinary arts, Villa College introduces two new national certificates. The National Certificate 3 in Phlebotomy, developed with guidance from the Maldives National Skills Development Authority and WHO, is the first nationally recognised qualification in phlebotomy. Additionally, the Certificate 4 in Culinary Arts blends international standards with traditional Maldivian cuisine, offering hands-on training in professional kitchens.
Applications for the May 2025 intake are now open, with the deadline set for April 19, 2025. Interested students can apply through Villa College’s official website.
