A new ice plant was officially inaugurated in GA. Gemanafushi, aiming to enhance the local fishing industry. Minister Ahmed Shiyam and the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, H.E. G. Balasubramanian, led the ceremony, marking the completion of the 50-ton ice plant, funded through the Indian EXIM Bank’s Line of Credit facility. The plant includes a 100MT storage capacity to support fisheries in the area.
MIFCO CEO Dr. Vitaliy Lyubimov, State Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Muhuthaz Muhsin, and representatives from Rinac India Ltd, along with local officials, attended the event. The plant’s ice production capacity will be crucial for the local fishing industry, ensuring a stable supply of ice and efficient storage for the region's fisheries.
