During his official visit to Sri Lanka, Maldives Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel met with Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya. Khaleel expressed gratitude for Sri Lanka's long-standing support in helping the Maldives’ development, especially in education and people-building initiatives.
The Sri Lankan Prime Minister assured that both nations would expand cooperation across various sectors moving forward. In addition to his meeting with Prime Minister Amarasuriya, Khaleel also met President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and engaged in a productive dialogue with Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath.
The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in tourism, education, economic growth, and security. The Maldives’ Foreign Ministry highlighted the significance of these talks for future bilateral cooperation. During his visit, Khaleel also took the opportunity to meet with Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka and Sri Lankan business leaders, aiming to deepen the relationship between the two nations.
