Dhiraagu, a leading telecommunications company in the Maldives, has officially partnered with non-profit organization Ocean 6|50 to become the exclusive Digital Partner of the “Across Maldives” world record dive attempt. This partnership marks an exciting step in Dhiraagu’s commitment to environmental sustainability and its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.
The project is led by Shafraz Naseem, a seasoned diver who holds the Asian record for the longest scuba dive, which lasted 50 hours in 2022. Shafraz is now embarking on his most ambitious challenge yet—the "Across Maldives" expedition. The mission will take him on a journey across the entire Maldives archipelago, from the northernmost to the southernmost atolls. The goal of the expedition is to raise awareness about the breathtaking beauty of the Maldives' marine ecosystems, while also gathering critical data on the effects of climate change.
The project will unfold in two phases over the next two years. The first phase, set to begin in February 2025, will focus on the Malé region. Shafraz and his team will attempt a world record dive covering at least 14 kilometers underwater, from Hulhumalé to Malé. This endeavor aims to attract global attention and set a new world record. In the second phase, Shafraz will dive across the entire Maldivian archipelago, covering 460 kilometers over the course of a month.
Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications at Dhiraagu, expressed pride in supporting the event. He emphasized the company’s focus on environmental issues and its role in driving sustainability efforts. Dhiraagu’s involvement aligns with its dedication to preserving the oceans and raising awareness about the challenges posed by climate change.
As the exclusive Digital Partner, Dhiraagu will play a pivotal role in the success of the "Across Maldives" project, supporting both the exploration and conservation of the region's unique marine environment.
