Telecom service provider Dhiraagu has announced the 2024 Dhiraagu Road Race will take place in Fuvahmulah on May 2nd, marking the event’s first move outside the capital city of Malé. This expansion is expected to offer a fresh running experience while highlighting the island’s natural beauty and rich culture.
The race will be held in collaboration with the Fuvahmulah City Council and the Women’s Development Committee (WDC). Registration for participants will open in early February via the event’s official website, dmrr.mv.
This year’s race in Fuvahmulah is significant as it will feature an internationally certified running route. The race is listed on the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and included in the World Running Calendar. Fuvahmulah, known for its stunning landscapes, will now serve as an exciting new destination for both local and international runners.
The Dhiraagu Road Race, which has been held annually since its inception in 2007, is the only international race in the Maldives. It’s known for its certified routes and high standards, offering a unique opportunity for athletes to compete in a prestigious event. This expansion to Fuvahmulah reflects Dhiraagu’s ongoing commitment to promoting fitness and tourism in the Maldives.
