At the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the national carrier of the State of Qatar – Qatar Airways - remained resilient and quickly adapted to this new reality displaying tenacity, versatility and commitment to excellence when providing their services. Obviously, this has paid off as yesterday, the airline proudly announced that they have achieved the ‘Diamond Standard’ in the Airline Passenger Experience Association’s (APEX) Health Safety Powered by SimpliFlying COVID-19 Audit.
Being the highest possible level attainable, the ‘Diamond Standard’ status was announced by APEX and global aviation marketing consultancy, SimpliFlying, following an extensive independent assessment of the airline’s COVID-19 hygiene and safety standards, both on board and at its main hub in Hamad International Airport, which many concludes as ‘robust’.
Commenting on the win, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker stresses on the airline’s commitment to provide the most rigorous and stringent virus monitoring, detection and COVID-19 safety program throughout its end-to-end passenger experience to exist in the global aviation community.
To effectively reinforce customers that air travel does not need to be a source of concern to passengers, Qatar Airways’ onboard safety measures include the provision of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for cabin crew and a complimentary protective kit and disposable face shields for passengers. Additionally, the airline also uses the most advanced HEPA air filtration systems onboard all aircraft, and recently introduced Honeywell’s state-of-the-art Ultraviolet Cabin System, operated by Qatar Aviation Services, as a further step in the cleaning of its aircrafts.
