Maldives and Azerbaijan Strengthen Economic Ties with Investment Forum

The Maldives is hosting a delegation from Azerbaijan from January 13 to 16, 2025, as part of a follow-up to discussions held during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Baku for CoP29 last November. This visit underscores the growing relationship between the two countries.
A key event of the visit was an Information Forum organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The forum, attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Elnur Mammadov and senior Azerbaijani officials, focused on showcasing investment opportunities in the Maldives. Key sectors presented included renewable energy, housing, infrastructure, sustainable tourism, logistics, and aviation.

The forum was moderated by Ambassador-at-Large H.E. Mr. Abdullah Hameed, who emphasized the potential for strengthened economic cooperation. The event provided a platform for meaningful discussions between Maldivian ministries, State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), and Azerbaijani businesses.

The forum is expected to pave the way for deeper economic ties and long-term partnerships between the two nations, creating opportunities for collaboration in areas of shared interest. This initiative marks an important step in furthering mutual growth and investment.
