Ministry Enforces No School Activities During Term Holidays

The Ministry of Education has once again confirmed that no school activities are allowed during the upcoming term holidays, which begin on December 22. This directive, in place since the start of the new academic year in August, prohibits any involvement of students or teachers in school-organized events during the breaks.

Despite this clear instruction, some parents have expressed concerns about schools continuing to conduct extracurricular activities during the holidays. However, Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu and State Minister Hussain Saeed Mohamed have reaffirmed that these practices violate the ministry's guidelines. They emphasized that schools are strictly prohibited from organizing or taking part in any activities over the holiday period.

While independent associations are free to arrange their own camps or events, these cannot be affiliated with schools in any way. The ministry has also reiterated its commitment to reducing teachers' workloads by enforcing policies that limit after-hours work and prevent the creation of informal communication channels like Viber groups between teachers and parents.

With the second-term mid-break starting soon, schools will remain closed until January 5, allowing students and teachers a well-deserved rest from school duties.
