R. Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital has officially begun offering MRI services as part of its ongoing upgrade to tertiary care. Health Minister Abdullah Nazim Ibrahim inaugurated the service during a ceremony held last night, highlighting the hospital's efforts to expand its medical capabilities.
Along with MRI, the hospital launched platelet plasma treatment (PRP) services for joint pain relief. This adds to the existing CT scan services and further strengthens the hospital's ability to serve over 70,000 patients annually.
The hospital has also made significant advancements in women’s health, opening a "Well Woman" clinic and reproductive health centre last year. Additional services such as laparoscopic surgery and other specialties were also introduced in 2023, contributing to improved healthcare access for the community.
