India Provides MVR 8.5 Million for Renovation of National College of Policing in Addu

Home Minister Ali Ihusan has announced that the Indian government will provide MVR 8.5 million in grant assistance for the renovation and maintenance of the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 37th Police Initial Training Course on Monday, he expressed gratitude to India for its ongoing support, which he called a reflection of the strong bond between the two nations.

Minister Ihusan highlighted the importance of this collaboration and thanked Amith Garg, Director of India’s National Police Academy, for attending the ceremony. He also acknowledged the significant work being done in the fight against drugs, revealing that over MVR 1.3 billion worth of drugs were intercepted and prevented from entering the country over the past year.

The graduation ceremony saw 171 recruits, including 39 female officers, complete their training. Police Constable Hassan Shaamil received the prestigious Commissioner's Excellence Award for his outstanding performance.

The National College of Policing and Law Enforcement, established with India’s assistance, plays a key role in training law enforcement personnel in the Maldives.
