Indian High Commissioner Bids Farewell After Strengthening Maldives-India Ties

The High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Mr. Munu Mahawar, paid a farewell visit to Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel this morning, marking the end of his over three-year tenure. Minister Khaleel praised Mahawar for his instrumental role in strengthening Maldives-India relations, particularly through key initiatives like the introduction of the RuPay card, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), and local currency trade agreements, all of which have advanced economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister also acknowledged India’s support for major infrastructure projects and community initiatives in the Maldives. Reflecting on the year’s progress, both officials highlighted the successful outcomes of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s recent State Visit to India.

High Commissioner Mahawar expressed his gratitude to the Maldivian government and its people for their support, reaffirming his confidence in the continued growth of the bilateral partnership. Minister Khaleel wished Mahawar success in his future endeavors, hoping he would remain a strong advocate for the enduring friendship between the two nations.
