The representative body of the students of Clique College – Students Association of Clique College (SACC) – targets to promote academic interests of students whilst helping them become model citizens of the nation. In this regard, SACC, facilitates the opportunity for students to engage in a wide range of activities such as volunteerism, team building & youth leadership development camps, charity events, sports & recreational and environmental protection activities.
We can all agree on the fact that unprecedented year of 2020, was challenging in all aspects students, parents and even the general public, in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, even during this period of time, SACC of 2020, continued to make tremendous efforts towards the safety and morale development of youth by taking part in numerous events and activities held of importance for youths, were highly commendable.
On the onset of the pandemic when the public and health sector became urgently engrossed in frontline operations, members of SACC initiated a practical approach to disinfect the parks in Male’ City; an act seen impressive at a time where people were skeptical about coming out of their houses. Moreover, SACC also worked towards creating awareness regarding the coronavirus in terms of maintaining proper health and prevention. SACC also encouraged staffs of Clique College to partake in volunteer activities through NGOs and frontline staff when necessary.
In addition to this, to improve the mental health of students as they remained home due to lockdown measures, a virtual PUBG tournament was conducted amidst, which was the only tournament hosted by a college during this time.
For all the aforementioned effort, a ceremony was held at Salt Café & Restaurant on the night of 9th January, to honor the SACC of 2020 and also as its closing ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Academic Dean of Clique College, Ms. Dhunya Hameed thanked the members for their dedicated contribution to fulfill their roles in a responsible and spirited manner as well. Likewise, the President of SACC of 200, Mr. Ali Shairaf Abdul Raheem, addressed the ceremony on behalf of the Association where he expressed his appreciation for he continuous support received from staff and members to carry out the activities of the Association during the year.
On October 2020, Clique College celebrated its 20th anniversary. As part of this, larger events are set to be hosted for the benefit of their students – both in the Maldives and overseas – which will be conducted in partnership with the College’s foreign partners such as SEGi University Malaysia, Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality CTH), UK and The Association of Business Executives (ABE), UK. Delivering this news, the President of Clique College, Dr, Naushad, also detailed the various events planned for this year by the College. For starters, Clique College will be working on hosting an inter-college Taekwondo tournament in collaboration with Sharks Martial Arts Academy (SMAA). Additionally, various biking and diving activities, coral protection programs, and resort trips for CTH students once travel restrictions are lifted were also highlighted. Students joining the College in the January 2021 intake will be able to partake in these activities and events.
