Maldives Commemorates Victory Day with Dedicated Exhibition

In honor of Victory Day, the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has launched a dedicated exhibition at the National Art Gallery. The inauguration was led by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who is also the Commander in Chief of the MNDF.

The exhibition, which runs until Saturday, will be open daily from 09:00 to 12:00, 14:00 to 18:00, and again from 20:00 to 22:00. Visitors can explore over 200 exhibits, including photographs, weapons, and other instruments utilized by the MNDF during the November 3 attack, which the country successfully repelled 36 years ago.

Victory Day serves as a remembrance of the tragic events from November 3, when 19 Maldivians lost their lives in a terrorist assault. The insurgents were ultimately defeated with the support of the Indian army.

Celebrations began early in the day with Fajr prayers at the Islamic Centre, attended by President Muizzu, Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheed, and various MNDF officers. The day's events also included a flag hoisting ceremony at the commemorative monument, culminating in an official ceremony later tonight at Dharubaaruge.
