The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives has awarded scholarships to 32 students from the Maldives National University (MNU) and the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) through the Chinese Ambassador Bursary Programme. The handover ceremony was attended by State Minister for Higher Education Ahmed Shafeeu, MNU Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Adam, and IUM Deputy Vice Chancellor Aishath Waheedha, among others.
State Minister Shafeeu highlighted that such initiatives strengthen the relationship between China and the Maldives while nurturing future leaders for national progress. He noted that this effort aligns with the higher education goals set by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Chinese Ambassador Wang Lixin expressed hope for the future, emphasizing the importance of educational opportunities for Maldivian youth. She announced that 12 students will soon travel to China for their studies, showcasing the program's potential.
This scholarship initiative reflects the robust partnership between the Maldives and China, underscoring China's ongoing support for educational development in the Maldives. The program aims to enhance human resource capabilities and promote self-sufficiency in the nation.
