Let the Kids Take You On A Wild Ride through 2040

Do you ever sit and wonder about what the future will be like? Maybe we have seen too much of the world to imagine it being exciting but if you let a kid imagine it for you, “Vision 2040” and “2040: What would it be like?” are what will come out of it.

We are talking about two books authored by more than 400 children from all corners of the Maldives, aged seven to fourteen, in an online project from the Circle.

“Vision 2040” and “2040: What would it be like?” express the visions of the bunch on how an era 20 years from now will consist of exciting jobs, space travel, and many more exciting new chapters. In addition to the content, all illustrations, cover page and all other components of the books are also contributions of the children who participated in this project.

“Vision 2040” is the work of children aged between six to ten while “2040: What would it be like?” is the work of eleven- to fourteen-year-olds. In a ceremony held at the President's Office this morning, these two books were presented to His Excellency President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He accepted the books with much encouragement and appreciation for the work little minds can do when put together.

The Circle by Ugail Foundation is a center opened in Hulhumale’ Centro Mall in 2019 in collaboration with Housing Development Corporation. The program aims to revive the habit of reading books and provide a peaceful yet encouraging learning environment. Its reach to the mass audience, especially children is a prime focus of the program. One of its biggest successes have been being able to conduct virtual activity classes even during the unprecedented global pandemic times.

We are headed to the future with the kids books, “Vision 2040” and “2040: What would it be like?” now available for purchase on Amazon.
