The World Health Organisation (WHO) has donated MPOX (Monkey Pox) test kits to the Maldives, enhancing the country's readiness for potential outbreaks. Dr. Padmal de Silva from WHO handed over the kits to State Minister Ismail Sharif of the Health Ministry. This donation comes as WHO declared MPOX a global threat on May 14, following outbreaks in Africa and some Asian countries, including Pakistan and India. The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that the Maldives is well-prepared, with measures in place to identify, control, and respond to the disease if necessary.
