President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced new measures to address the high profits from medicine sales in the Maldives. The president revealed that current medicine prices range between 200% and 2,000% above their cost, prompting him to instruct relevant authorities to implement changes.
In a social media update, President Muizzu stated that details of these measures will be released soon. He emphasized that the new regulations aim to lower medicine prices and reduce the financial burden on the government’s universal health scheme, Aasandha. The savings from these measures are expected to be reinvested into improving and expanding healthcare services across the nation.
