At the Tropical Coastal City Tourism Event 2024 in Sanya, China, Ibrahim Shiuree, Managing Director of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), highlighted the crucial role of effective policies in the Maldives' thriving tourism industry. The event, held from September 4-5, was backed by the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and organized by Sanya City's Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, TV and Sports along with the Sanya Tourism Board.
During a panel discussion titled "Insight Sessions: International Tourism Marketing," Shiuree stressed the need for upskilling tourism workers and diversifying the Maldives' tourism offerings. He pointed out that the success of the industry stems from a unified vision between the public and private sectors, which fosters responsible tourism practices and sustainable growth.
The 2024 event was a significant opportunity for networking, sharing insights, and exploring sustainable development in tropical coastal regions. Apart from thematic discussions on sustainable and indigenous tourism, the event also featured business matching sessions.
