Minister Muththalib Leads Key Meeting for Thilamale' Bridge in India

Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib attended a crucial meeting in India to review the Thilamale' Bridge Project. Co-chairing the 12th Joint Project Monitoring Committee meeting with High Commissioner of India to the Maldives, Munu Mahawar, Dr. Muththalib focused on ensuring the project's timely completion.

The meeting, which included officials from Maldivian ministries, India's Ministry of External Affairs, Exim Bank of India, and project contractors, emphasized the need to accelerate progress. As of now, 43.59% of the 6.7 km bridge has been completed. The project is slated for completion by September 30, 2026, but the Maldivian government aims to finish it by late 2025 or early 2026. The bridge, connecting four regions, has a budget of over USD 500 million.

During his visit, Minister Muththalib also toured the Additionally Driven Intermediate Tunnel (ADIT) in Mumbai. This experience is expected to benefit future projects in the Maldives.
