Tradian, the Maldives' national single window platform, has been officially launched, marking a significant step towards simplifying business operations in the country. The platform was inaugurated by the Vice President at a ceremony held at Hotel Jen.
The National Single Window, branded as "Tradian," is a collaborative project between the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade and Trade Net Maldives. This initiative aligns with the President’s vision to ease the business process for Maldivian entrepreneurs by offering a single platform to access a wide range of online services from various agencies.
Trade Net Maldives’ Managing Director, Saeeda Umar, emphasized that Tradian is part of the government’s broader efforts to foster a green environment for entrepreneurs. She highlighted that the first phase of the services is now operational, with the full system expected to be functional by the first quarter of next year. The official launch of the entire system is scheduled for November.
Saeeda Umar explained that the phased launch is intended to provide businesses with adequate time to adapt to the new system, particularly during significant shifts in the business environment. The development of Tradian was led by Crimson Logic, with support from the Asian Development Bank.
At the launch event, Commissioner General of Customs Fathimath Dhiyana stated that Tradian will enhance transparency in business documentation and provide a platform for connecting business partners. The system will also integrate with the existing Hiras system of Customs, improving the efficiency of goods clearance through enhanced profiling and targeting techniques.
Dhiyana further noted that this system is widely adopted globally, with 56% of World Trade Organization member countries having implemented similar platforms. Tradian was developed with extensive input from the economic sector and consultations with Sri Lankan business experts.
