HDC’s new parking structures aim to solve parking problems in the Greater Male' area.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) Managing Director, Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, announced on Thursday that new parking buildings under the Hulhumale' Development Plan will provide at least 4,000 parking slots. Speaking at a press conference, Fazul revealed that HDC will introduce both paid and free-of-charge parking models in designated areas.

Fazul stated that around 15 parking structures are planned, which will permanently resolve parking constraints in the Male' area. The project, set to start within the next three months, is commercialized and expected to be completed in two to three years.

In collaboration with Male’ City Council, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, and the Maldives Police Service, HDC is working to address parking and congestion issues in the Greater Male’ area. This initiative aligns with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s campaign promise to find a lasting solution to these long-standing problems.
