The Facilities Management and Utilities Division (FMUD) of Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) recently held a pivotal event to prepare for the peak tourism season. The Winter Prep Kickoff 2024 was organized in anticipation of the high season, running from December to April, when the Maldives sees a significant influx of tourists.
During the event, MACL shared its strategic plans with its management, focusing on activities that align with the company's goals. These preparations are crucial as Velana International Airport (VIA) readies itself for the busy season. MACL highlighted that the primary objective is to ensure a comfortable and efficient environment for both airlines and departing passengers.
Key initiatives include expanding the terminal area to reduce crowding, enhancing the terminal's aesthetics, and maintaining optimal temperatures throughout the facility. Speaking at the event, MACL CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed described the event as the starting point for the planned work. He emphasized the importance of internal collaboration, noting that all activities are carried out in consultation with employees.
Shareef also set goals for the upcoming season and assured the staff that any challenges in meeting these targets would be addressed. Additionally, he committed to securing the necessary resources to further improve airport services. The event also featured presentations from various FMUD departments, with discussions on strengthening cooperation across departments. More such meetings are planned to ensure the successful implementation of these initiatives.
