The First Ever Inter-College Taekwondo Tournament Is On The Way!

Whilst education plays a crucial role in the development of human beings and directly influences our future, studying can often weigh one down with all the pressure to excel on top of the tough daily grind of the classroom. Clique College aims to promote more than students’ academic interests and aspires to help them become responsible and valuable citizens of the nation.

On Tuesday, Clique College has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sharks Martial Arts Academy. Unbeknownst to most people, martial arts and education go hand-in-hand. As a matter of fact, education and learning is a major component of martial arts. Understanding the discipline of martial arts has many great benefits to the lives of students. Not only does it aid in stress relief and releasing tension, martial arts can also enhance performance in studies through improving focus and concentration.

Sharks Martial Arts Academy is dedicated to provide a safe and a family-oriented martial arts experience for students of all ages with a mission to foster self-improvement and personal development through focused training. The Academy promotes physical fitness and positive social interaction in a courteous and fun atmosphere and instills sense of discipline and a code of ethics to inspire them to lead exemplary lives as leaders in the community. Coach Ayoub Yassin Al Natshe from the Academy notes that “Martial arts is a one-way road, work hard and it gives you peace. It is always a good time to challenge yourself.”

Under this MoU, the college will form a Taekwondo Club whereas students from the club will be trained by Sharks Martial Arts Academy at the National Martial Arts Center in Hulhumale’ Sports Complex. All current students and new enrollees will have the opportunity to join the club who will then be trained and prepared for both local and international tournaments.

Most importantly, Clique College in association with Maldives Taekwondo & Sharks Martial Arts Academy will also be organizing an inter-college taekwondo tournament which is set to begin this year and will continue to be held as an annual tournament. This effectively creates a platform to perform and carry out selection for international tournaments.

Commenting on the matter, the Academic Dean of Clique College, Ms. Dhunya Hameed states that, “Today, we have opened another door to be a part of an exciting experience. While majority of our students are working, it is important to have a break for oneself, build stamina, strength and flexibility. By practicing martial arts, better physical performance and lesser stress will help with academic performance.”
