Get Ready to Run: Dhiraagu Announces 15th Edition of Maldives Road Race with MVR 256,000 Prize Pool

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2024 has officially opened its registrations, marking a significant milestone as the event approaches its 15th edition. Held at Central Park, Hulhumale’, on 25 October 2024, the DMRR continues to be the largest and most anticipated running event in the Maldives. Participants can now register for the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon categories, along with a new addition this year—the Office/Resort category. Interested runners can sign up and find more information at www.dmrr.mv.

At a press conference held at Dhiraagu's Head Office, Mohamed Mirshan Hassan, Director of Brand and Marketing Communications, shared the event's key highlights. This year, the race aims to enhance its community engagement by introducing the Office/Resort category, designed to encourage team participation from various organizations. This new category is expected to foster a spirit of competition and collaboration among employees from different resorts and offices, allowing them to represent their organizations in a competitive setting.

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is not only a prominent sporting event but also a platform for social impact. With a total prize pool of MVR 256,000, the event will reward winners across different categories. Additionally, DMRR 2024 continues its commitment to social causes by focusing on child protection, a central aspect of Dhiraagu’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program.
Dhiraagu will allocate five grants totaling MVR 200,000 to the top five NGOs endorsed by participants during registration. Furthermore, MVR 100 from each registration fee and proceeds from special bib number sales will be donated equally to these endorsed NGOs. Last year, the company awarded MVR 635,000 to partner NGOs, underscoring its dedication to supporting vital causes through its events.

As the first and only international run in the Maldives, DMRR is listed in the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) World Running calendar and features a World Athletics-certified race route. The event attracts global runners, with participants from 27 countries joining last year’s race.

With the addition of new categories and continued focus on charitable contributions, Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race 2024 promises to be a landmark event that combines competitive running with meaningful social impact.
