The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports severe flooding in northern Maldives, affecting 57 homes in Haa Dhaalu Atoll’s Kulhudhuffushi. Heavy rains overnight led to significant water damage, prompting the evacuation of three families.
In addition to Kulhudhuffushi, two homes in Haa Alifu Atoll’s Hoarafushi, five homes in Shaviyani Atoll’s Feevah, and five in Noomara sustained damage. The Maldives Meteorological Services (MET Office) recorded 118.9 mm of rain in Kulhudhuffushi, the highest in the past 24 hours.
Currently, there are no weather advisories, but the MET Office forecasts wind speeds of up to 35 mph and rough seas. The situation is under continuous monitoring as recovery efforts begin.
