The Maldives Customs Service has updated its regulations to include duty exemptions for items imported for security services. This change, part of the Export Import Act, is set to improve safety and will be effective once published in the Government Gazette. Previously, duty exemptions were granted on a case-by-case basis through requests from the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology and the Ministry of Defense.
The new amendment formalizes and simplifies the exemption process, ensuring a more efficient approach to securing duty-free status for security-related imports.
