The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has officially announced plans for the "Dhiveheenge Ufehdhuntherikamuge Maurazu" (Maldives Expo 2025). The event will take place from May 23rd to 31st, 2025, in Hulhumale.
In a press release on X, the Ministry stated that the expo is open to proposals from 81 categories within the Creative Economic District, Digital and Innovative District, Entertainment District, and Market Place District. These districts are designed to create an environment where creativity and business intersect, offering a platform for innovators and entrepreneurs to connect with potential partners, investors, and customers.
Applications are invited from private individuals, companies, businesses, islands, cities, educational institutions, and differently-abled individuals. The Ministry also encourages international participants to join, aiming to integrate innovation districts from other countries and promote cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange.
To further encourage innovation, arrangements have been made to offer research grant funding to participants. The application deadline and detailed participation guidelines will be announced shortly, according to the Ministry.
The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has assigned the management of the expo to the Business Center Corporation (BCC). President Muizzu and the ministers’ council have made key decisions to ensure the expo's sustainability as an annual event. This initiative is expected to bolster the Maldives’ economic growth by showcasing the potential of diverse industries and fostering innovation and collaboration among businesses.
