Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) is the proud leading marine and transport provider in addition to being the leading civil and marine constructor in the Maldives.
On 2018, the company launched an apprentice program – Hunavaru – with the purpose of developing qualified Maldivians for the construction industry and subsequent licensing of Maldivian professionals to fill the gaps in the construction job market. During a press conference held yesterday, the company reinstated the program for this year, and announced its commencement under the title, ‘Hunavaru 2021’.
This time around, the apprenticeship program will be conducted in four phases. The first phase is dedicated to the southern atolls, Fuvahmulah City & Addu City which will focus on building skillsets required specifically in the area of civil and marine construction projects undertaken by MTCC. During this phase, participants will be trained to maneuver vehicles and machineries utilized in such projects such as tugs, barges, buses, lorries, bulldozers, excavators, cranes etc.
Selected apprentices will be provided training at MTCC’s worksites for a period of 3 months. During this period, they will also be given an allowance of MVR 5000 per month. Upon successful completion of training, apprentices will be awarded the opportunity to work for the company and a bond of one year.
Interested individuals are instructed to attend an open day for expression of interest and lodging an application for the program. Accordingly, in Fuvahmulah City, the open day will be held on 9th January whereas in Addu City, it will be held on 11th January.
