IUM to Conduct Vehicle Registration Survey for Male' City

Male' City Council has assigned the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) to conduct a survey on vehicle registration numbers and the maximum age of vehicles that can be registered in Male'. The council decided on this initiative last month.

The contract, valued at MVR 625,700, requires IUM to complete the survey within 120 days. This move is part of broader efforts to address traffic congestion, including seeking assistance from Dubai and implementing various measures to mitigate traffic issues.

In the past five years, 69,780 new vehicles have been registered in the Maldives, with 42,000 of those in the Male' area, according to the Transport Ministry.
