Alia, in collaboration with the Maldives Institute of Technology (MIT), has launched a comprehensive training program to enhance the skills of marine vessel captains, focusing on technical information related to safety and security. The "Boat Operators Training Program" has engaged 64 participants this year.
The program includes theoretical and practical sessions designed to equip captains with the necessary knowledge to navigate outboard engine vessels effectively. Key components of the training involve essential driving precautions, navigation chart interpretation, safety protocols, and procedures for addressing medical emergencies among passengers.
In addition to navigation and emergency response training, the program also covers outboard engine maintenance and troubleshooting techniques. The initiative, which concludes tomorrow, has seen participation from representatives of various resorts, sea transport service companies, and government institutions.
Alia has received positive feedback from resorts, marine transportation companies, and government entities, highlighting the program's alignment with industry standards. The training emphasizes maritime safety, professionalism, and practical skills.
In a related effort, Alia, in partnership with Japan's Yamaha Technical Academy, has launched a specialized training program for aircraft operators in the Maldives. This year's Yamaha Technical Training program marks its fifth edition.
This year also commemorates the 50th anniversary of the introduction of Yamaha outboard engines to the Maldives, underscoring a long-standing commitment to enhancing marine and aviation operational standards in the region.
