National flag carrier Maldivian Aero is set to enhance its distribution network through a new agreement with Amadeus Global Distribution System (Amadeus GDS). Additionally, Maldivian Aero has joined the International Air Transport Association (IATA)'s billing and settlement plan (BSP), marking a significant step forward in its expansion efforts.
Maldivian Aero announced that starting from the 14th of next month, IATA-accredited BSP travel agents in India will be able to issue e-tickets for Maldivian flights on the Amadeus GDS platform using the Q2-986 ticket plate. This will provide comprehensive access to all BSP-accredited travel agents in India.
The airline aims to increase ease and convenience for its passengers and travel trade partners through this partnership. By streamlining ticketing and distribution processes, the agreement is expected to facilitate smoother travel between India and the Maldives, offering better air travel options for customers of both countries.
Ismail Amrah Umar, Maldivian's acting Chief Commercial Officer, stated that the new agreement with Amadeus GDS and IATA's BSP will significantly enhance the airline’s distribution capacity. This will not only bring ease to partners and customers but also expand the airline’s operations and provide more opportunities for growth.
Currently, Maldivian Aero operates 13 weekly flights to three destinations in India. This includes four flights to Cochin, five to Trivandrum, and two to Bangalore from Velana International Airport (VIA). Additionally, two flights are operated from Hanimaadhoo to Trivandrum each week.
Tickets for all these destinations can now be purchased via the GDS. Travel agents will also have access to purchase tickets to all 17 airports within the Maldives that Maldivian Aero services.
The new partnership aims to support the airline’s expansion plans and improve the overall travel experience for its customers, making air travel between India and the Maldives more efficient and convenient.
With a focus on enhancing service quality and operational efficiency, Maldivian Aero continues to strengthen its position as a leading airline in the region.
