On 10th December, the flag carrier of the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways, increased its flight frequency to three flights per day between Doha & Maldives. Via a tweet yesterday, the airline announced another increase. With this change, Qatar Airways, will now be operating four flights per day between the Doha & Maldives route.
Qatar Airways is the first international airline to resume operations to Maldives following the border reopening whereas the Middle East Region has since then come to become one of the top tourist markets to the country. Whilst the year-end holidays is shown to have boosted the market even further, the ‘travel bubble’ formed between Maldives and the State of Qatar continues to boost this market as well.
In this regard, Qatari nationals and Qatari based residents are enabled the opportunity to experience a hassle free holiday by eliminating the process of a quarantine or self-isolation upon returning home following a visit to the Maldives. Passengers can make bookings under the package until 15th January 2021 for a travel deadline set to 31st January 2021.
At present, a total of 26 international airlines operate to Velana International Airlines whereas by the end of January five more airlines are expected to commence operations.
