The Maldives State Shipping (MSS) has announced a new milestone in its operations with the export of frozen fish to Southeast Asian countries. This initiative is part of MSS's collaborative efforts with the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).
The first cargo ship carrying frozen fish from the Maldives set sail on July 14, heading to Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka. The fish are being transported on the MSS Graphene, one of the company’s cargo ships.
MSS has been successful in exporting fish from MIFCO and other Maldivian companies to European markets. The company represents Hapag-Lloyd, the world's fourth-largest shipping line, and has agents in over 30 countries.
With a fleet of five cargo ships and more than 2,000 containers, MSS operates routes from Colombo to Malé and from Dubai to Malé. This expansion into Southeast Asia marks a significant step in broadening the company's export capabilities and strengthening its presence in international markets.
This development underscores MSS's commitment to enhancing the Maldivian fisheries industry by opening new avenues for export and ensuring that Maldivian products reach a wider global audience.
